Animal Fat Rendering Equipment is an industrial production facility that extracts edible, high-purity fat (animal oil) from raw animal tissue. It integrates a series of process machines including crushing, controlled vacuum refining, oil residue separation, pressing and filtering. It is a complete set of dry animal oil refining equipment.
Unlike traditional open boiling, GQ-Agri’s turnkey and non-standard rendering systems automate the entire process (feeding, vacuum boiling, separation, pressing, filtration) to reduce manual labor, enhance productivity and lower energy consumption.
Operating under stable negative pressure, the system prevents oxidation, preserves oil color and flavor, and meets modern hygiene and environmental standards. Each line is custom-engineered to suit production scale, environmental requirements and final oil applications.
Animal Fat Rendering Process Steps.
- The rendering process begins with grinding raw animal by-products into uniform particles.
- The material is then conveyed and uniformly fed into a vacuum oil-rendering kettle. Under sealed, oxygen-free conditions, controlled heating and agitation remove moisture and release the fat.
- A water-jet vacuum pump creates negative pressure within the oil-rendering kettle. The vacuum pipeline is equipped with a condenser to condense the water molecules and odorous micro-molecule vapor in the raw materials into distilled water.
- The semi-separated slurry is then subjected to oil residue separation. The solid residue is conveyed to the pressing section for secondary extraction, while the crude oil flows into a mixing and storage tank to prevent sedimentation.
- Finally, the oil passes through a filtration stage to remove fine impurities and is collected in a temporary crude-oil tank, ready for storage or downstream refining.
What Are the Main Machines Included in Animal Fat Oil Rendering Equipment?
The animal fat rendering production line integrates a series of main and auxiliary machines, which are arranged in a specific sequence to operate. Together they form a continuous, closed and hygienic process from animal fat raw materials to liquid crude oil.
Main Machines.
- Meat Mincer: Crush raw animal tissue into uniform pieces of 3-5 cm in size. This ensures even heating and efficient oil extraction. If the raw material particles are too large or too small, slag or burnt will occur. The crushed material is then conveyed via a conveyor to the next stage of the rendering process.
- Feed conveyor and distribution screw: Evenly convey the crushed material to the vacuum rendering kettle, ensuring stable and continuous feeding and uninterrupted production. When customers need multiple vacuum rendering kettles for ultra-large-scale production, the distribution spiral can distribute the raw materials into different kettles.
- Vacuum rendering kettle: This is the core of the entire oil extraction system. Our vacuum rendering pots combine surround heating, vacuum dehydration and automatic stirring. Surround heating increases the heating area of the rendering pot and extracts oil efficiently. An automatic stirring device effectively prevents raw materials from being stale or burnt. Animal fat cells transform from solid to liquid under heat. Thermal molecular motion weakens the cohesion between molecules, making it easier for oil to precipitate from cells.
Typically, the oil rendering kettle temperature is controlled between 105-130°C, and the melting time is 2.0-3.5 hours (depending on the quality and moisture content of the raw materials). - Condensate recovery device (condenser & condensate storage tank): Since the rendering pot is sealed, the oxidation of oil by air, which would cause adverse effects such as increased peroxide value and darkening of color, can be completely avoided during the entire melting process. At the same time, the integrated condensation system collects the evaporated water molecules and odor molecules in the vacuum rendering kettle and force-cools them into distilled water. This allows the rendering kettle to achieve vacuum dehydration and deodorization, improving overall energy efficiency. Generally: the vacuum degree (gauge pressure) is stable between -0.03~0.08MPa.
- Residue Scraper Conveyor: We utilize a sieve-type oil-residue separation scraper to increase the separation time between oil and solid residue, effectively separating solid residue from crude oil. The separated solid residue is then transported to the pressing stage for secondary pressing.
- Crude oil storage tank: used to store extracted crude oil. We can install a stirring device in the tank according to customer needs to maintain the uniformity of the crude oil before filtration and avoid the precipitation of fine solids.
- Residue feeding tank and screw oil press: The solid oil residue separated by the oil residue separation scraper is transported to this oil pressing link. The residue storage tank stores the solid oil residue and supplies it to the screw oil press for mechanical pressing to recover the remaining oil from the residue. The pressed meal is discharged for reuse, while the extracted oil is stored in the crude oil storage tank for future use.
- Vibrating blade oil filter: removes tiny impurities from crude oil to make it meet the standards for entering the oil tank. This reduces subsequent refining workload and protects and extends the life of refining equipment.
- Central control cabinet: coordinates all heating, pumping and other electronic parameters, synchronizing each stage to maintain continuous, automated and safe operation.
Auxiliary Devices.
- Rendering oil vacuum unit: Provides vacuum for oil rendering, maintaining efficient boiling, increasing rendering speed, and preventing oxidation.
- High-level expansion groove: Balances the pressure in the thermal oil circuit within the rendering oil, protecting the rendering oil tank during heating and circulation.
- Oil-gas separator: Separates and discharges vapors from the rendering oil circuit, ensuring stable circulation and heating performance.
- Heat-Transfer Oil Reservoir: Stores and supplies thermal oil for the self-circulating heating system, linking to both the expansion tank and kettle.
- Liquid Trap: Prevents foaming or oil mist from being drawn into the vacuum line, keeping the system clean and reliable.
- Water Separator: Settles and clarifies condensed distilled water for secondary sedimentation, completing the vapor-recovery circuit.
- Power Pumps (≥4 for oil and water): Drive circulation and transfer throughout the heating, vacuum and filtration systems, ensuring steady operation across all sections.
